Twelve Reasons to Play Again

The how of coming back has its own card; this one is the why. Twelve short reasons to open the case again, for everyone whose instrument is waiting in a cupboard: serious where it should be, wry where it can be, and made to be passed to the friend who keeps saying one day.

What is on the card

Why the music never stopped being wonderful even when life got loud. What playing gives back: all of you used at once, an hour your phone does not get, the feeling software cannot have, and a room of people cooperating for a whole evening without a screen in sight. Why it is easier than it looks: wrong notes belong in the practice room, it comes back sooner than you think, and the years of learning are already banked. And the first note, which feels like opening a window in a room you had forgotten was stuffy.

This card pairs with the free practice guide for your instrument — all twelve are on the Guides hub — and with the other reference cards on the Cards hub.

The reasons are the easy part; what most returners lack is an orchestra to sit inside while they find their way back. On MaestroMeet you play your part with the score scrolling in front of you and the rest of the orchestra around you, so what this card teaches has something real to land on. MaestroMeet is opening soon — join the waitlist to be among the first to play.
